On a more critical note, I think the start button looks a bit odd. As well as this, I think the colours could perhaps be toned down a touch on the multi-cloured one.

Also, if you were going to use transparency at all, I would have used transparency for inactive windows as well.

And finally, grey text for the title on active windows with transparency looks hard to read.

Overall however, it is very good. Sorry if this is not the kind of critique you would like :)

Active windows are opaque. Inactive are transparent. You're seeing it backwards. I know you don't have WB to try it :( I was going to put my logo on the start button but decided not too since this will be open source. I noticed when using this on another machine, the start flag also is out of aspect. It must be the LCD panel I use.

Constructive criticism is good.

The multi colored you refer to was created to aid finding the active window for usability not aesthetics. White on white everywhere is confusing. It's the complementary color of the base green I use.

Aah I see, I am seeing it backwards. The four squares for the start button are good, but the top-left and bottom-right squares are say 1px bigger.

Maybe you purposely did this? It does not look good on such a small scale.

The offset is intentional. It's an abstract wavy flag :)

It's the Windows logo colors, although I'm not sure if the lower right color is supposed to be yellow or orange. You only see it when the start panel is active, otherwise it's simple green.

Maybe because the screenshots here are not at the original resolution. I looked at previous versions and it looks OK. :)
